DURHAM, N.C. – After completing a standout career with the Duke volleyball program, senior libero Ali McCurdy looks to continue her volleyball playing career overseas. The Tampa, Fla., native is taking part in the 2013 January Exposure Tour, which helps match players from the United States with professional teams across Europe.
The group departs Wednesday and plans to play matches to Italy, Slovenia and Austria over the course of the 11-day trip. In past years, the tour has successfully placed players with professional teams in Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and Finland as well as Austria, Slovenia and Italy.
The three-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year, McCurdy also garnered her third consecutive AVCA All-America honorable mention and All-East Coast Region honors this past season. She led the team with 593 digs, totaling 10-plus digs in 59 consecutive matches dating back to 2012. The ACC career digs leader, McCurdy is just the 12th player in NCAA history to top 2,500 digs, amassing 2,538 over her four seasons in Durham. She is the lone Blue Devils to register 500 or more digs in each of her four collegiate campaigns, and the only Duke player in school history to average over 5.00 digs per set for a career.
