DURHAM, N.C. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference named sophomore Megan Clark the ACC Female Performer of the Week Tuesday afternoon, marking the second consecutive week the Fort Benning, Ga., native received the honor. Clark earned the accolade following a school record clearance of 14-3.50 (4.36) at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va. The performance on Saturday currently ranks Clark second nationally in the event.

Clark’s impressive 2014 season continued Saturday afternoon in Virginia, as the pole vaulter improved on her previous school record height of 14-0.00 (4.27) by clearing 14-3.50 (4.36) on her third attempt. Clark, who opened the competition at 12-2.00 (3.71), made adjustments throughout the day after clearing 12-8.00 (3.86), 13-1.75 (4.01) and 13-5.75 (4.11) on second attempts and 13-9.75 (4.21) and 14-1.75 (4.31) on third attempts.

After opening the 2014 season at the Virginia Tech Invitational with a clearance of 13-3.50 (4.05), Clark posted a height of 12-11.50 (3.95) at the Dick Taylor Challenge Jan. 24, the only contest this season that Clark did not surpass the 13-foot barrier. Clark returned to competition one day later with a clearance of 13-9.25 (4.20) before setting a school record with a 14-0.00 (4.27) effort at the Hilton Garden Innvitational Feb. 1. Clark’s 14-3.50 (4.36) marks the second meet this season where she broke the 14-foot barrier.

The Blue Devils return to competition Friday, Feb. 14, competing at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, and Saturday, Feb. 15, traveling to the Millrose Games in New York, N.Y.
