DURHAM, N.C. -- With the NCAA Regional Championship just two weeks away, the Duke track and field team sends a number of competitors to the NC State Wolfpack Last Chance Meet in Raleigh, N.C., as well as the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. The meet in Raleigh is scheduled for Friday, May 16, while the Georgia Tech Invitational will take place both on Friday and Saturday, May 17.

The quartet of runners that set Duke’s 4x400 meter school record, including juniors Lauren Hansson, Elizabeth Kerpon and Abby Farley and freshman Madeline Kopp resume competition this weekend. Hansson, who also set the 100m school record, returns to the 100 for the first time since setting the top all-time mark on March 5. Hansson is scheduled to follow the open 100 with the open 400, competing alongside Kerpon, Kopp and junior Callie Francis, all of whom are also entered in the event.

Farley looks to move up in distance this weekend, competing in the 1,500 for the first time this season. Sophomores Anima Banks and Madison Granger, freshman Haley Meier, graduate students Juliet Bottorff and Audrey Huth and redshirt senior Madeline Morgan are also slated to participate in the 1,500 in Atlanta. Banks, Farley, Granger and Meier will return to the track one day later for the women’s 800, scheduled for 1:20 p.m.

The women’s 100-meter hurdles will include Duke’s No. 1 and No. 2 all-time performers in the event, as school-record holder and senior Hannah Goranson, and redshirt sophomore Teddi Maslowski both enter the contest. Goranson claimed the school record one week earlier with a time of 13.85 at the Virginia Challenge, while Maslowski previously held the fastest time in Duke history, running 13.91 earlier in the season at the ACC Championship.

Two of Duke’s middle-distance runners, juniors Nate McClafferty and Henry Farley, are scheduled to compete in both the 800 and the 1,500 in Raleigh. McClafferty is coming off a personal-record performance in the 1,500, running a 3:44.48 at the Virginia Challenge. Farley has seen similar success at both the 800 and the 1,500 this year, posting personal-best times of 1:51.03 and 3:49.58, respectively. Both performances came at the ACC Championship. Joining McClafferty and Farley in the 1,500 is graduate student Mike Moverman, junior Brian Schoepfer and freshman Stephen Shine.

Duke field competitors this weekend include redshirt sophomore Thomas Lang in the men’s javelin and freshman Christine Streisel in the women’s javelin. Lang last competed in the event at the Penn Relays, placing seventh overall in the college section of the men’s javelin. Streisel also last competed at the Penn Relays, placing seventh in the college section of the women’s javelin.

In the jumps, the Duke trio of senior Tanner Anderson, sophomore Carl Heinz and redshirt junior Michael Krone are set to compete in the high jump at 5 p.m., while both redshirt senior Curtis Beach and Maslowski look to post strong performances in the long jump. Beach enters the competition with a season-best mark of 23-10.75 (7.28), while Maslowski set a school record earlier this year with a mark of 19-4.25 (5.90).

The Blue Devils open competition in Raleigh with the men’s javelin at 3 p.m., while the women’s 1,500 at 8:10 p.m. marks the first event for Duke in Atlanta.
