DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University sophomore Celine Boutier turned in rounds of 72 and 70 on her way to claiming medalist honors in U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying at The Heritage Golf Course in Westminster, Colo., earning her a spot in the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open.  The U.S. Open will be played at the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club Course No. 2 in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C., June 19-22, 2014.

Boutier posted a total of two-under-par, 142, to claim medalist honors over Janie Jackson (144) in sectional qualifying.  It will mark the first appearance for Boutier in the U.S. Women’s Open.  A native of Montrouge, France, Boutier collected three birdies in each of her two qualifying rounds Wednesday.

The 2014 ACC Player of the Year, Boutier has collected three victories over her final four tournaments as the Blue Devils prepare to head to the NCAA Championship May 20-23 at the Tulsa Golf & Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.  She is ranked No. 7 nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and owns a 71.83 stroke average.
