The Duke Football Summer Spotlight runs every Tuesday and Thursday on GoDuke.com and features interviews with members of the reigning ACC Coastal Division Champion Blue Devils.
DURHAM -- Today’s Duke Football Summer Spotlight featues redshirt junior center Matt Skura, who enters the 2014 campaign as the returning starter in the middle of the offensive line. Skura started all 14 games last season, directing an offensive line that yielded just 17 sacks on 489 pass attempts, good for one sack for every 28.8 pass attempts.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Skura played 986 of a possible 1,016 snaps last season. His work up front allowed Duke to average 248.1 passing yards and 178.0 rushing yards per game while setting a school record with 54 touchdowns, including more than 20 on the ground and in the air.
Duke returns 44 letterwinners (20 offense; 21 defense; three special teams) and 17 starters (eight offense; six defense, three special teams) from a squad that went 10-4 overall and 6-2 in the ACC while reaching the Chick-fil-A Bowl a year ago.
