DURHAM, N.C.—The preseason awards continue to roll in for senior captain Sean Davis. The veteran midfielder recently was named to the College Soccer News Preseason All-America Third Team.

Davis, a Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Best XI first team selection, returns to anchor the Duke midfield in 2014. He is one of six ACC players represented on the CSN Preseason All-America squads.

A two-time captain, the Duke offense runs through Davis. Possessing great vision and incredibly gifted with the ball at his feet, the Holmdel, N.J., native ranked second on the team in scoring in 2013 with a career-best six goals and three assists for 15 points. He garnered All-ACC second team honors and was voted the team’s Offensive MVP.

A product of the New York Red Bulls Academy program, Davis helped lead the Red Bulls U23 squad to the National Premier Soccer League Championship over the summer. The Holmdel, N.J., native played in nine games for the Red Bulls after returning from a training trip on Sweden and scored a goal and an assist.

Davis, with one goal to his name in the exhibition games, and the Blue Devils kick off the 2014 season with the John Rennie Nike Classic. Duke opens Aug. 29 against Loyola Marymount at 7:30 p.m. and follows with Stetson Aug. 31 at 2:30 p.m.
