DURHAM, N.C. – This past Sunday, the Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers (TROSA) held its annual graduation with Duke volleyball head coach Jolene Nagel serving as the keynote speaker.
TROSA is a comprehensive two-year residential substance abuse recovery program located in Durham. The organization aims to not only help its residents achieve sobriety but also give them the tools needed to rebuild their lives and maintain sobriety when they leave TROSA. Key elements of the program include vocational training, education, counseling, mentoring, leadership training and aftercare.
Sunday’s ceremony featured 17 graduates, ranging in age from 21 to 62, who had completed TROSA’s intensive treatment program.
Coach Nagel’s participation in this weekend’s graduation was not the first time Duke volleyball and TROSA have crossed paths. Last year, the Blue Devils held a promotional night for TROSA, collecting clothing donations for the residents of the non-profit program.
