DURHAM, N.C. -- Junior setter Kellie Catanach was named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week after leading Duke to the NCAA Regional Final for the first time in program history.
Catanach, the ACC Player of the Year, averaged 11.50 assists at the NCAA Regional Semifinals and Finals and led 12th-seeded Duke to a 3-1 win over Missouri in the semifinal. Catanach dished out 55 assists in the four-set win over the Tigers while contributing six digs and five blocks. She followed with 37 assists in a 3-1 loss to fourth-seeded Penn State.
Under Catanach’s direction, the Blue Devils won three NCAA Tournament matches for the first time in school history while advancing to the Elite Eight for the first time since 1993. She was named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament team, becoming the first Duke player to earn NCAA Regional All-Tournament honors.
