DURHAM, N.C. – Duke volleyball outside hitter Emily Sklar earned ACC Player of the Week accolades Monday after leading the Blue Devils to victories over No. 18 Florida and Miami this past weekend. The citation is Sklar’s second of the season after the 6-3 sophomore also took home conference player of the week honors earlier this month.

A native of San Jose, Calif., Sklar powered Duke (18-3, 9-1 ACC) to a pair of wins Friday and Saturday in Cameron Indoor Stadium. In Duke’s five-set victory over Florida State, she finished two digs shy of her third consecutive double-double, totaling 15 kills and eight digs to go along with three blocks. Saturday versus Miami, Sklar matched a career-high with 20 kills, hitting a scorching .429 while also adding nine digs.

Sklar was outstanding on both offense and defense against two of the top teams in the ACC, averaging 4.38 kills per set and 2.12 digs per set for the weekend. She currently leads Duke with 267 kills and has totaled 10 or more kills in 13 consecutive matches.

Sklar’s honor is the fourth weekly league distinction garnered by a Blue Devil this season. Classmate Elizabeth Campbell and freshman Sasha Karelov picked up ACC Player of the Week and ACC Freshman of the Week honors, respectively, after guiding Duke to victories over Indiana and Illinois.

Duke returns to action this weekend as the Blue Devils play host to Syracuse and Boston College. The Blue Devils face the Orange at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 before taking the court against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2.
