DURHAM, N.C. – The NBA kick started the 2013-14 season Tuesday, with 15 former Blue Devils holding spots on NBA rosters and 13 stepping onto the court for their respective teams on opening day.

Duke is tied for second among college teams with 15 former players currently on NBA rosters. The 15 former Blue Devils combine for a $67,965,913 salary. Duke players have led the NBA in combined salary in seven of the last 10 seasons.

Carlos Boozer opened the season with a statement game after recording 31 points in 32 minutes of action Tuesday, while second-year player Miles Plumlee broke out with 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks in his first career start, a Phoenix victory over Portland Wednesday.

Shane Battier
Forward - Miami Heat
Drafted: 1st Round (6th pick) by the Memphis Grizzlies (2001)
2013-14 Stats: 2 games, 8.0 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 0.5 APG, 0.0 SPG, 0.0 BPG
Battier opened the 2013-14 season by posting a 5-of-6 performance from the floor, including a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the three-point line against the Chicago Bulls.

Elton Brand

2013-14 Stats: 1 game, 8.0 PPG, 0.0 RPG, 0.0 APG, 0.0 SPG, 0.0 BPG
Brand went 4-for-5 from the field on Wednesday in a losing effort against the Dallas Mavericks. Both field goal attempts and made field goals were below the power forward’s career averages of 13.6 and 6.8, respectively.

Carlos Boozer

2013-14 Stats: 1 game, 31.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG
Boozer opened the 2013-14 campaign in spectacular fashion Tuesday, shooting .722 percent from the field in a losing effort against the Miami Heat. The power forward shot 13-of-18 from the field and led the Bulls with 31 points.

Luol Deng
Forward - Chicago Bulls
Drafted: 1st Round (7th pick) by the Phoenix Suns (2004)
2013-14 Stats: 1 game, 4.0 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 4.0 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.0 BPG
Deng could not convert on any of his five three-point attempts Tuesday against the heat, recording four points on 2-of-8 shooting from the field. Deng nearly doubled his career 2.4 assists per game average, notching four assists Tuesday.

Mike Dunleavy
Forward - Chicago Bulls

Entering his thirteenth season in the NBA, Dunleavy posted 10 points in his first game with the Bulls. The small forward shot 3-of-9 from the floor, including a 2-for-4 effort from beyond the arc.

Gerald Henderson

Kyrie Irving

Irving facilitated a Cleveland Cavaliers’ 98-94 season-opening win against the Brooklyn Nets Wednesday.  The former NBA Rookie of the Year and 2012-13 NBA All-Star scored 15 points while leading the Cavaliers in defensive rebounds, with seven, and assists, with nine.

Josh McRoberts
Forward - Charlotte Bobcats
Drafted: 2nd Round (37th pick) by the Portland Trail Blazers (2007)
2013-14 Stats: 1 game, 15.0 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG
McRoberts was 3-of-4 from beyond the three-point line Wednesday in a losing effort against the Houston Rockets. McRoberts led all Bobcats with 15 points.
