DURHAM, N.C. -- Recently, GoDuke.com sat down with senior Todd Zafirovski to learn more about the Lake Forest, Ill., native.
GoDuke.com: What are your three favorite things about being a student-athlete at Duke?
Todd Zafirovski: The first one is just being a student here. It is pretty unbelievable to be here for five years, being a graduate and then being in grad school is something you don’t get to do a lot. I love being able to meet the students. Some of these kids are unbelievable and are doing amazing things all around you, and it is cool to be part of that. And three is the fans. It’s fun to be part of this and all the support you get.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite on-the-court memory?
TZ: My favorite on-court memory would probably be scoring my first bucket. That was a fun moment for me and something I will always remember.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite memory away from the court?
TZ: I would have to say graduation last year. To be with Mason Plumlee, Ryan Kelly, Andre Dawkins and Seth Curry for graduation was really special and you only get that once. And to come back and be able to graduate again this year with Josh Hairston, Tyler Thornton and Andre again will be fun.
GoDuke.com: What are three things you would like to do in the next 10 years?
TZ: One is to start a company. I think it will be really fun. It’s really great and a lot of people are doing that right now. Also, I want to go to South America. I have never been to South America and I think it would be really cool. And the last thing would be drive across the country.
GoDuke.com: Describe Coach K in three words.
TZ: Intense, passionate and prepared.
GoDuke.com: What are some things you would do on a day off with no school and no practice?
TZ: Probably go to the gardens and walk around, then go to the movies.
GoDuke.com: What are three of your favorite restaurants in Durham?
TZ: Pizza Mia, Sushi Love and Kanki.
