DURHAM, N.C. - Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski along with Dean Smith and the late Kay Yow will be honored with the Dr. James A. Naismith Good Sportsmanship Award on Wednesday, June 29 at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium. The Naismith Good Sportsmanship Award honors individuals for their displays of sportsmanship on and off the court, positive contributions to the game and a lifelong dedication to the sport.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the awards presentation scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Tickets to the event may be purchased at Ticketmaster.com.
The Naismith International Basketball Foundation and the N.C. Sports Hall of Fame will put on the event.
N.C. State athletic director Debbie Yow will accept the honor on behalf of her late sister, who passed away in January 2009 after a valiant battle with cancer. Smith will be accompanied on stage by current North Carolina coach Roy Williams.
College of Charleston coach Bobby Cremins is scheduled to be the keynote speaker while ACC commissioner John Swofford is also addressing the audience.
