Team Notes:

  • Duke advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year and 29th time in the 34 appearances by the school. The Blue Devils have a 38-8 record all-time as a No. 1 seed in the tournament.
  • The Blue Devils are now 5-0 all-time against teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference with all five games coming in the NCAA Tournament.
  • Duke made its 15th straight NCAA Tournament under head coach Mike Krzyzewski and 26th in his 30 overall seasons. Krzyzewski extended his NCAA record for tournament wins to 72. He is now 72-22 (.766) all-time in the NCAA Tournament, the second highest winning percentage among coaches all-time.
  • The Blue Devils earned their 30th win of the year, the 11th 30-win season in program history. All 11 have come under Coach K. He has led Duke to 30 or more wins in eight of the last 13 seasons.
  • Kyle Singler joined Jon Scheyer with over 600 points this season, marking the 10th time in school history two or more players have scored at least 600 points. Singler is just the eighth player in school history with back-to-back seasons of 600 or more points, joining Dick Groat, Art Heyman, Jeff Mullins, Danny Ferry, Christian Laettner, Jason Williams and J.J. Redick.
  • Singler gives Duke 29 games with at least one 20-point scorer. The Blue Devils have 45 individual 20+ point scoring games this season.
  • Four Blue Devils scored in double figures, the 17th time this year that at least four players scored 10 points in a game for Duke.
  • Duke held Arkansas-Pine Bluff to 44 points, marking the sixth time this season they have held an opponent under 50 points. The Blue Devils are allowing just 61.2 points per game.
  • The Blue Devils shot .511 (24-of-47) from the field, only the sixth time this season they have shot 50 percent or better. Duke is 6-0 in those contests.
  • The Golden Lions shot just .321 for the game, the 19th opponent to shoot under 40 percent against the Blue Devils. Arkansas-Pine Bluff was 4-of-19 (.211) from long range, the 19th game Duke has held its opponent under 30 percent from deep.  
  • Duke held a 41-24 rebounding advantage, improving to 25-2 when outrebounding the opposition. Entering the game, the Golden Lions had rebounding margin of +6.5 and had outrebounded all but two non-conference opponents. The edge on the glass led to a 16-2 advantage in second chance points for the Blue Devils.


Player Notes:

Mason Plumlee

  • Freshman Mason Plumlee blocked three shots for his sixth game this year with two or more blocks. He has tallied at least one block in five straight games and seven of the last eight contests.
  • Plumlee also grabbed six rebounds, marking the ninth time this season he has collected five or more boards.


Miles Plumlee

  • Sophomore Miles Plumlee scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds. It is his seventh game this season with eight or more rebounds.


Jon Scheyer

  • Senior Jon Scheyer has started in 42 consecutive games and is one of 22 players in school history with 100 or more career starts.
  • Scheyer played in his 139th career game, moving him into a tie with Shelden Williams, J.J. Redick and Greg Paulus for ninth on Duke’s career games played list.
  • Scheyer recorded his 110th career game with 10 or more points. The 110 double-figure scoring games rank as the seventh most all-time at Duke. He has scored in double figures in 34 of the 35 games on the year. He moves into a tie for ninth with seven other players for the most double-figure scoring games in a single season with 34. 
  • With 13 points Scheyer passed Shane Battier and Art Heyman into 10th on Duke’s all-time scoring list. He is now six points shy of 2,000 for his career. 
  • Scheyer extended his streak to 28 consecutive games with a made three-point field goal and leads the team with 96 treys this season. The two three-point field goals move Scheyer past J.J. Redick for eighth on Duke’s single season treys made list. He has made three or more in 21 games this season.
  • With one steal Scheyer became the 10th player in school history with 200 career steals. - Three from tying Bobby Hurley for ninth on the career list and four away from Steve Wojciechowski in eighth.


Kyle Singler

  • Junior Kyle Singler extended his consecutive starts streak to 63 games, the longest current streak on the team. He now has 105 career starts as one of 22 players in school history with 100 or more career starts.
  • With 22 points and 10 rebounds, Singler posted his seventh double-double of the season and 20th of his career.
  • Singler tallied his third straight game with 20 or more points and 15th of the season. He reached double figures in scoring for the 32nd time this season and 91st career game. Over his last 10 games, he is averaging 21.1 points per game.
  • The double-figure rebounding contest was the eighth of the year and 21st of Singler’s career. He moved past Carlos Boozer for 19th on Duke’s career rebounding list with 728 career rebounds.


Nolan Smith

  • Junior Nolan Smith tallied his 31st game this season with 10 or more points and has 54 career double-figure scoring games.
  • Smith dished out five assists to give him six games this season with five or more assists.
  • Smith had two steals to give him 12 games with at least two steals on the season.


Lance Thomas

  • Senior Lance Thomas reached double figures in scoring for the sixth time this season and now has 19 career games with 10 or more points. It is his first game with at least 10 points since he scored 13 at Clemson on Jan. 23. His 12 points were one shy of a season high.
  • Thomas matched a career high with two assists, recording two for the 11th time in his career and eighth time this season.
