DURHAM, N.C. - The 2012-13 NBA season begins Tuesday night and with opening night rosters set Duke has 18 former Blue Devils currently on league rosters. Duke's alumni in the NBA will make a league-high $96,439,883 this season.

Five former Duke standouts will be in action on Tuesday. Kyrie Irving, the 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year, leads the Cleveland Cavaliers in their opener tonight against the Washington Wizards, while Shane Battier and the Miami Heat begin their title defense against the Boston Celtics. Elton Brand and Dahntay Jones make their debuts with the Dallas Mavericks tonight against a Los Angeles Laker team that includes Chris Duhon.

Kyle Singler (Detroit), Austin Rivers (New Orleans) and Miles Plumlee (Indiana) make their NBA debuts this season, while Grant Hill (Los Angeles Clippers), Corey Maggette (Detroit) and Josh McRoberts (Orlando) each moved to different teams in the offseason.

Overall, Duke has had 57 former players appear on NBA roster. Rivers and Plumlee became the 44th and 45th draft selections under Mike Krzyzewski when they were taking in the first round of the 2012 NBA Draft. Since the NBA Draft Lottery began in 1985, Duke has produced 17 lottery picks (second-most in the NCAA).
