Duke 63, Clemson 62

Team Notes:
•    Rodney Hood sank both free throws with 3.8 seconds left to lift Duke past Clemson, 63-62, in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament. Hood scored 17 points for the game and hit 7-of-8 free throws in the second half.
•    Clemson hit their final seven shots as part of a 17-9 run over the final six-plus minutes of the game. The Tigers cut a nine-point Duke lead to a tied game with that surge before Hood put Duke back on top by hitting both shots on a 1-and-1 to give Duke the lead with 3.8 seconds remaining. Tyler Thornton knocked the ball away from Rod Hall on Clemson’s final possession.
•    Duke will move on the ACC semifinals for the 43rd time and first time since 2012. Duke is 30-11 all-time in the ACC semifinals.
•    Duke improved to 3-2 in games decided by one possession this season. Duke previously defeated Vermont (91-90) and Maryland (69-67) and lost at Notre Dame (77-79) and Syracuse (89-91) in one-possession games this season.
•    Duke is 5-1 all-time in ACC Tournament games decided by one point.
•    The Blue Devils outrebounded Clemson 34-25 and improved to 18-1 on the year when outrebounding the opposition. Duke had 14 offensive rebounds, compared to Clemson’s six rebounds on their own glass. In the only other meeting between the two teams this season, Clemson outrebounded Duke 48-30 with 14 offensive rebounds.
•    Duke entered halftime with a 29-25 lead, marking the 28th time in 32 games Duke has led at the break. Duke has trailed at halftime just twice all season.
•    Duke played its 250th consecutive game as a ranked team. The Blue Devils are 207-43 (.828) during that run, which began at the start of the 2007-08 season.

Player Notes:

Rodney Hood
•    Hit the tying and go-ahead free throws with 3.8 seconds as part of a 1-and-1 free throw opportunity. After Clemson’s Rod Hall sank a layup to put the Tigers ahead 62-61 with nine seconds left, Hood took the ball coast-to-coast and was fouled on the way to the basket. He hit both shots to give Duke the lead for good.
•    Finished with 17 points, including nine in the second half. Hood went just 1-of-3 from the field in the second half but hit 7-of-8 free throws in the final frame.
•    Snapped an ACC-leading streak of 28 consecutive games with a three-pointer. Hood went 0-of-3 from the three-point line, marking only the second time all season he finished without a three-pointer. Hood ranks second in the ACC with a .417 (65-of-156) clip from three-point range.
•    Scored in double figures for the 28th time this season and eighth straight game.

Amile Jefferson
•    Grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds for his seventh double-figure rebounding performance of the season (7-0). It was Jefferson’s first game with double-digit rebounds since a 12-rebound performance against Maryland on Feb. 15.
•    Led Duke in rebounds for the ninth time this season (8-1).

Jabari Parker
•    Led Duke in scoring for the team-leading 20th time (17-3). Parker scored a team-high 18 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. Parker has made 11 consecutive free throws.
•    Became only the sixth Duke freshman to score 600 points in his first season. Parker is Duke’s freshman scoring leader in both total points (613) and points per game (19.2). He also ranks third with 280 rebounds and second with 8.8 rebounds per game.
•    Snapped a streak of six consecutive double-doubles. Parker has an ACC-leading 14 double-doubles, which ties former Duke star Gene Banks (1977-78) for the school freshman record. Parker has 10 double-doubles in his past 14 games.
•    Extended a streak of 15 consecutive double-figure scoring games. Parker has scored in double figures in 30 of Duke’s 32 games, tied for the third most by a Duke freshman and the most by a Duke freshman since Austin Rivers logged 30 in 2011-12.
•    Increased his school freshman dunk record total to 58.

Rasheed Sulaimon
•    Scored in double figures for the ninth time in Duke’s past 12 games, finishing with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Sulaimon has scored 10-plus points 17 times this season, including in 13 of Duke’s 19 against ACC foes.
•    Scored a team-high 10 points in the second half, including a free throw with 1:14 remaining that put Duke ahead 61-59.
