DURHAM, N.C. - Four Duke University cross country athletes have been selected to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association 2012 Division I Women's Cross Country All-Academic team, as announced by the organization Monday. In addition, both the men's and women's cross country squads received 2012 All-Academic status for collectively earning a 3.00 grade point average or higher.

Graduate student Suejin Ahn, senior Juliet Bottorff and sophomores Carolyn Baskir and Kelsey Lakowske were each named USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country All-Academic honorees following the 2012 cross country campaign, which saw the Blue Devil women win the Southeast Region title and finish seventh as a team at the NCAA Championships. Bottorff and Lakowske also garnered USTFCCCA All-America recognition with their top-40 performances individually at the NCAA Championship meet.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region's top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2012.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.

The Duke men were one of 23 teams that competed at the NCAA Championships to also earn USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition, while the Blue Devil women were one of 27 squads at the NCAA Championships to receive the accolade.
