DURHAM, N.C. – Duke forward Mason Plumlee was named one of 10 players on the John R. Wooden Award All-America Team Monday.

Plumlee is the 29th Duke player to appear on the Wooden Award All-America Team, the most of any program since the inaugural team in 1977. Candidates are voted on by a panel of several hundred college basketball media members and experts around the country and must maintain at least a cumulative grade point average of 2.0, an important component of the award insisted upon by coach Wooden.

A senior from Warsaw, Ind., Plumlee led Duke to a 30-6 record and the Elite Eight in his final season while averaging 17.2 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. He became the first Duke player to average a double-double for the season since All-America Shelden Williams on 2005-06.

A component unique to the Wooden Award All-America Team is the consideration of a candidate’s play in the first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Plumlee, who was named to the NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team, averaged 15.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 assists per game in those three NCAA Tournament wins to propel Duke to the Elite Eight.

Plumlee has also been named to the USBWA, NABC and Associated Press All-America teams as well as receiving All-ACC first team and USBWA District III Player of the Year honors.

The Warsaw, Ind., native concluded his Duke career ranked in the top 10 in rebounds, field goal percentage, blocks and dunks. Plumlee also became the 31st player in ACC history to record over 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career.

In addition to his numerous on court honors this season, Plumlee was also named a 2013 Capital One First Team Academic All-America for the second straight year.
