DURHAM, N.C. – Following last weekend’s road trip to the state of New Jersey, the ninth-ranked Blue Devils return home this weekend to host William & Mary and No. 15 Old Dominion in a pair of non-conference contests at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium. Duke will play host to the Tribe Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. and take on the Monarchs Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m., with that match slated to be streamed live on Inside Access.

William & Mary Series History
Friday evening’s matchup represents the 30th all-time meeting between Duke and William & Mary with the Blue Devils leading the series, 20-8-1 … Duke owns a record of 10-2-1 when hosting the Tribe at home and has won each of the last 10 matchups … The two squads last met in Williamsburg, Va., Oct 15, 2011, when the Blue Devils posted a 3-0 shutout … Seniors Devon Gagliardi and Emmie Le Marchand both tallied goals in that contest, with Le Marchand also contributing one assist.

Duke vs. the CAA
Duke is 54-25-2 all-time against teams currently in the Colonial Athletic Association … The Blue Devils have faced William & Mary more than any other school in the conference … Duke is 1-0 against CAA squads this season after defeating Drexel, 4-1, in the opening weekend of action at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.

Scouting the Tribe
William & Mary enters Friday night’s game with an overall record of 2-2, including a mark of 0-1 on the road … The Tribe suffered a pair of setbacks to Louisville and Ohio last weekend in Louisville, Ky. … Sophomore Pippin Saunders leads the squad with six points on one goal and four assists, while senior Taylor Hodge has totaled a team-high two goals so far in 2013 … Sophomore Meredith Savage and redshirt sophomore Cate Johnson have split time in goal … Interim head coach Tess Ellis took over the reins of the program this fall after serving a number of years on the program’s coaching staff.

Old Dominion Series History
Duke and Old Dominion have squared off 37 times in program history, with the Monarchs holding a 24-13 advantage in the series … The two teams met twice during the regular season in 2012, as the Monarchs claimed a 3-1 win in Durham Sept. 16, 2012, and edged Duke by a 3-2 score in Norfolk, Va., Oct. 14.

Duke vs. The BIG EAST
Duke owns an all-time ledger of 36-12-4 against current BIG EAST members … The Blue Devils posted a 3-2 victory in double overtime against BIG EAST member Rutgers last weekend in Piscataway, N.J. … Old Dominion is in its inaugural season in the conference, joining the BIG EAST from the CAA.

Scouting the Monarchs
Old Dominion is 1-3 on the fall following a pair of losses at home to ACC teams Maryland and Virginia last weekend … The Monarchs will play top-ranked North Carolina Friday evening before coming to Durham Sunday afternoon … Sophomore Sarah Breen leads the team in scoring with two goals through four games … Goalkeeper Megan Hept has anchored Old Dominion’s defense with a 3.72 goals against average and a .657 save percentage … Head coach Andrew Griffiths joined the Monarchs’ program this spring following the retirement of long-time head coach Beth Anders.

Last Time Out
The Blue Devils went 1-1 during their road trip to the state of New Jersey … The squad fell to reigning national champion Princeton Friday, Sept. 6 in a narrow 3-1 loss … Duke bounced back against Rutgers Sunday, Sept. 8, grinding out a 3-2 win in double overtime on a gamewinner by graduate student Cherry Seaborn in the 88th minute.

Le Marchand Tops Century Mark
Senior forward Emmie Le Marchand tallied her 100th career point last Sunday in the win over Rutgers with her goal in the 10th minute of play … She became the 11th player in program history to reach the 100-point mark for her career … The native of Worcester, England also moved into a tie for ninth place on Duke’s all-time career goals list with 42 in her four seasons at Duke.

Blue Devils Attack Cage Against Rutgers
In last Sunday’s 3-2 double overtime victory against the Scarlet Knights, Duke posted an impressive 35 shots, placing 14 on goal … The 35 shots were the most by the Blue Devils since the squad tallied 38 in a 10-1 win over Appalachian State Oct. 25, 2008 … Nine Duke players registered a shot on goal in last weekend’s road win.

Duke Moves Up in NFHCA Poll
Head coach Pam Bustin’s squad moved up one spot to No. 9 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll this week … The Blue Devils were tabbed No. 10 in the national preseason rankings … Duke is one of four ACC schools currently ranked in the top 10.

Heimbach Anchors Back Line
Senior defender Paula Heimbach continues to be one of the Blue Devils’ most dependable backs in 2013 … An All-ACC honoree and Longstreth/NFHCA third team All-America selection last fall, Heimbach was tabbed to the Preseason All-ACC squad last month by a vote of the league’s seven head coaches … Heimbach and the Duke defense earned a shutout in the season opener against Indiana and currently allows just 1.35 goals per game to rank 16th in the country.

Blazing Off to Strong Start Between the Pipes
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper and Durham, N.C., product Lauren Blazing has guided the Blue Devils to a 3-1 mark, including a shutout of Indiana in the season opener Aug. 30 … She currently boasts a .706 save percentage and ranks 13th in the nation with a 1.14 goals against average.

Seaborn Making An Impact Up Front
Graduate student Cherry Seaborn tallied a goal in each of Duke’s first two games of the season and added the gamewinner in double overtime against Rutgers Sept. 8 … She is tied for second on the squad in goals (3) and points (6) heading into the weekend … The forward joined the Duke program this summer from Durham University in Durham, England and is enrolled in The Master of Management Studies program at Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.

Bustin’s Take
“We had a lot of shot and scoring opportunities last week, and I think over the course of this week we’ve been working on the details of finishing,” Bustin said. “We had a great opening weekend here. We had two challenging road games, and it’s always tough on the road. So now I think coming back after faring pretty well on the road … I think we’re going to be really ready to come back home and play two good matches.”
