SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Duke women’s tennis team closed a very successful weekend at the San Diego State University Fall Classic on Sunday with two singles titles and a doubles crown at the Aztec Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.

Duke junior Annie Mulholland posted a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win over Blue Devil teammate 78th-ranked Marianne Jodoin to claim the red singles bracket championship.  Mulholland, who is out of Portland, Ore., opened the season with three wins over the weekend.

Blue Devil rookie Alyssa Smith registered the black singles bracket championship by taking down San Diego’s Anna Depenau, 6-1, 7-6 (3).  Through two tournaments to open the season, Smith owns a 4-1 mark in singles play.

In doubles action, the Duke duo of Smith/Jodoin collected the red doubles bracket title with an 8-7 (3) win against Kristin Buth and Laura Antonana Iriarte of San Diego State.

Other members of the Blue Devil tennis team will compete in the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships starting on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
