DURHAM, N.C. – Three members of the Duke women’s lacrosse team have earned Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-South Region recognition, as announced by the organization Monday, May 12. Junior attacker Kerrin Maurer and senior defender Taylor Virden garnered first team honors while junior midfielder Taylor Trimble appeared on the second team.

Virden received the third all-region selection of her career while Maurer and Trimble were honored for the second consecutive season.

The Blue Devils’ leader in points, goals and assists this spring, Maurer has notched career highs in the goals (55) and points (84) categories. She currently ranks fourth on Duke’s single-season charts in points and seventh in goals, and is seventh nationally in points per game (4.67). An All-ACC second team selection and a Tewaaraton nominee, the Setauket, N.Y., native owns 10 hat tricks and nine multiple assist games in 2014 and has registered at least one point in 24 consecutive contests. Maurer surpassed the 200-point mark for her career Sunday in an NCAA second round win over Notre Dame.

Virden has tallied a career-best 61 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers during her senior campaign. A product of Ellicott City, Md., she ranks second in the ACC in caused turnovers and totaled four ground balls and three caused turnovers Sunday against the Irish. Virden has helped the Blue Devil defense hold opponents to a 9.56 goals per game average for the spring and was named to the All-ACC first team and the list of Tewaaraton Award nominees. She is sixth on Duke’s single season list for draw controls and ranks second all-time in program history in the category with 153 over her four years.

A native of Rosemont, Pa., Trimble is second on the squad in scoring with 32 goals and 40 points. She is also third on the team in draw controls (33) while ranking top-18 in the ACC in that category. Trimble was a first team All-ACC honoree and has recorded six hat tricks in 18 contests this season. She reached the 100-point milestone for her career earlier in the year and is 20th all-time in school history with 112 points in three seasons.

After earning a pair of victories in the first and second round of the 2014 NCAA Championship over the weekend, Duke faces a quarterfinal meeting with top seed Maryland Saturday, May 17 at 12 p.m. in College Park, Md.
