WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rising senior midfielder Taylor Trimble and former Blue Devil Sarah Bullard have been named to the U.S. national women’s lacrosse 38-player roster for the 2014-15 season. The team was announced Sunday, June 15 at the conclusion of a three-day tryout held at Georgetown University.
A member of the 2009 and 2013 U.S. World Cup Championship squads, Bullard was a two-time Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America selection as a midfielder for the Blue Devils. She was twice named a Tewaaraton Trophy nominee in addition to collecting All-ACC and All-ACC Tournament team recognition. The 2011 Duke graduate continues to rank among the top 20 in program history in goals, points, draw controls, caused turnovers and assists.
Trimble was one of the Blue Devils’ leaders in scoring, totaling 32 goals and 40 points during the 2014 campaign. She recorded six hat tricks in 19 contests and was also third on the team in draw controls (34). A second team All-South Region selection and a first team All-ACC honoree as a junior, Trimble reached the 100-point milestone for her career during the spring and is ranked among the program’s all-time leaders in points. Previously a member of the world champion 2011 U.S. women’s national U19 team, she was on the U.S. national team roster for the Stars and Stripes event in October, 2013.
Players were selected from an 81-player invite-only tryout pool, and were evaluated by the Team USA coaching staff, led by head coach Ricky Fried, as well as several top-level college coaches. The team will train and compete in several exhibition events in the lead-up to the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women's World Cup in Surrey, England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the U.S. as the team goes for a third consecutive and eighth overall world title.
The team will next convene for a training weekend Aug. 1-3 at Georgetown.#GoDuke
