DURHAM, N.C. – Two national champions will be taking the mound for the Durham Bulls Monday night. Will Haus, a midfielder for the 2014 national champion Duke men’s lacrosse team, and Celine Boutier, a member of the 2014 national champion Duke women’s golf team, will throw out the ceremonial first pitches for the matchup between the Bulls and the Gwinnett Braves on Monday, Aug. 25. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m., with the first pitches being tossed at 6:45 p.m.
Haus, a senior hailing from Palmyra, Pa., was a key member of Duke’s back-to-back men’s lacrosse national championship teams in 2013 and 2014 and will be a leader for the 2015 squad. Haus’ play was instrumental to Duke’s 2014 title run, earning him a spot on the NCAA All-Tournament Team. He also tossed in a goal in Duke’s 11-9 victory over Notre Dame in the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championship game.
Boutier, a junior from Montrouge, France, led the Duke women’s golfers on their way to securing the team national title last spring, the sixth in program history. Individually, Boutier earned runner-up honors at the NCAA Championships and was named the WGCA National Player of the Year, ACC Player of the Year and was the Honda Sports Award recipient for women’s golf.
