DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University head coach Mike Krzyzewski announced that Josh McRoberts will return for his sophomore season in 2006-07. McRoberts, a member of the ACC All-Freshman team last year, averaged 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game while helping Duke to a 32-4 record and the ACC Championship last season. The Carmel, Ind., native also shot 115-of-190 (.605) from the field a year ago to lead the Blue Devils in field goal percentage.

"I am very excited about my decision to return to Duke to continue my academic and athletic career," said McRoberts. "I love the atmosphere at Duke and the support the university receives from the community. There is no place better to play college basketball. I am looking forward to working with the coaching staff to further develop my skills as a player. The relationships that I have in place here played a major role in my decision. I am anxious to see my bond with Coach K, the rest of the staff and my teammates grow even stronger. Additionally, I am eager to continue to build on several relationships that I have developed in the community through working with our outreach programs."

McRoberts stepped up his play in the final two months of the season, averaging 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 59.6 percent (53-of-89) from the field over the final 14 games of the year. He had 10 of his 15 double-figure scoring games during that span, as well. McRoberts, a third team Freshman All-America by Collegehoops.net, also had five double-figure rebounding games and a pair of double-doubles on the year. The 6-10 forward was also named to the ACC All-Tournament second team after averaging 13.0 points and 6.7 rebounds in three tournament victories.

Duke won the ACC regular season and tournament championship for the ninth time in school history in 2006. In the past 20 years, only seven ACC teams have won both titles, including six times by the Blue Devils. Duke's 16th men's basketball ACC Championship also has the distinction of being the school's 100th in all sports.
