PARIS, France – The Blue Devils had a special event planned by our trip organizer Basketball Travelers on Thursday as they competed against each other in an Amazing Race exercise in the city of Paris.

The team was split up into four teams and was given maps of Paris as well as instructions for the race.

TEAM 1: Chelsea, Ka’lia, Jenna
TEAM 2: Haley, Amber, Katie
TEAM 3: Ali, Alexis, Richa, Sierra
TEAM 4: Tricia, Elizabeth, Chloe

They had to hit 4 Paris Landmarks--

1.    The Louvre and the Famous Pyramid -- the requirement was to take a photo in front of the famous I.M. Pei 'Pyramid' which was completed in 1989. Contrary to popular belief, the pyramid contains 673 panes of glass, not 666 written in Dan Brown's ''The Da Vinci Code.'' They had to have at least two teammates in the photo.

2.    Pont des Arts -- Known as the ''locks of love'' - A pedestrian bridge that crosses the Seine river between Pont Neuf and Pont du Carroussel. They had to find the bridge and take a photo of a lock on the bridge with at least two teammates again.

3.    Notre Dame Cathedral -- the requirement was to get to Notre Dame and take a picture with two teammates again.

4.    Arc de Triomphe -- again, they had to take a picture in front of the Arc with at least two teammates.

For each landmark they found and provided a picture as per the requirements, they got five points.

Before or after the Arc de Triomphe stop, they also had to find the famous Lido on Les Champs Élysées. In front of Lido, was Lauren Rice (Duke video coordinator) waiting for each team. The requirement was for each team to find a Parisian on the sidewalk and get the Parisian to confirm on camera that a) they are Parisian b) to say ''Call me Maybe.'' This counted for five points. If they also got the Parisian to say ''Rim 'em up, Tear 'em up, Give 'em Hell Duke, they would get 15 points.

They were assessed in terms of the time they took to complete the race as well as the points they scored with the pictures taken and the videos filmed with the Parisians they found. An extra five points was also offered to the teams that beat Julie, the guide...but she beat everyone! She made it in one hour and nine minutes.

Recap after the race --

First Place - The Big Winners: Team Chelsea, Ka’lia and Jenna. They made it in 1h13min! They sprinted nearly everywhere...they were quite competitive!

Second Place: Team Allison, Alexis, Richa and Sierra. They made it in 1h40 min, so nearly 30 minutes later than team one, but they were very creative with their pictures, taking time to find the biggest lock on Pont des Arts, as well as making some really nice personal videos during the event.

Third Place: Team Haley, Amber and Katie. They made it just two minutes later than Allison’s team. They got the ''Taste of Team'' Award. They did what they had to do, without going above and beyond. Haley was caught by Lauren complaining about the event, so she got the ''Winer Award''!

Fourth Place: Team Tricia, Chloe and Elizabeth. They came in dead last, but they were by far the most hilarious in their approach in that they seemed to have forgotten it was a race! They pretty much ate their way through Paris, stopping for ice cream and taking pictures of themselves relaxing...They got the ''Big Chill Award.”
