Joanne P. McCallie and members of the Blue Devil women’s basketball team will assist with the Ramblin’ Rose for the second straight year, which will take place on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Ramblin’ Rose is a 13.1 mile race that will start at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham, N.C., beginning at 7:30 a.m. Members of the team will arrive by 9:00 a.m., to start handing out the medals.
Blue Devil senior Allison Vernerey has once again been one of the key contributors to the planning of the Ramblin’ Rose as she continues to help out at the Duke Cancer Institute. Vernerey, who is a native of Alsace, France, performed an internship over the summer of 2011 with the Duke Cancer Institute. She helped secure volunteers and worked on the promotion of the event.
The Duke Cancer Institute is the primary beneficiary of the Ramblin’ Rose.
