DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off a 138-32 victory over the reigning NCAA Division II National Champion Shaw University Lady Bears, the preseason third-ranked Duke women’s basketball team will host Queen University of Charlotte on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m., to close out exhibition action in Cameron Indoor Stadium.  Sunday’s contest will be free admission to all fans.

Queens University is located in Charlotte, N.C., and is coming off posting a 10-16 overall record a year ago under the direction of head coach Cheryl Nix.  Nix, who is in her third year at Queens, is a graduate of Clemson University.  The Royals return all nine letterwinners and five starters, including leading scorer Shonice Pettaway (17.7 points, 9.3 rebounds).  Queens also returns Sarah Myatt (11.6 points, 8.6 rebounds) and Dyonna Battle (10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds).

The Royals participate in the Conference Carolinas and features an enrollment of 2,600.

In the first preseason contest on Oct. 30 against Shaw, the Blue Devils were led by junior Tricia Liston with 36 points and 12 rebounds, while junior Chelsea Gray added 20 points and 10 assists.  A total of seven Duke players notched double-figure scoring – Haley Peters (15 points, 18 rebounds), Allison Vernerey (15 points, 11 rebounds), Ka’lia Johnson (16 points), Alexis Jones (16 points) and Sierra Moore (17 points).

Duke has been tabbed No. 3 nationally in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches preseason polls.  The No. 3 listing is the highest preseason ranking for the Blue Devils since the 2005-06 campaign.

A reward to fans that attend the final exhibition game against Queens on Nov. 4 is the opportunity to purchase individual game tickets before the general public. Tickets officially go on sale on Monday, Nov. 5.

Ticket packages for the 2012-13 season include season ticket packages and the ACC 4-Pack mini-plan amongst other great offers.
