DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University incoming freshman Rebecca Greenwell will be honored as one of three Kentucky high school athletes of the year at the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame program June 13 at Louisville’s Crown Plaza Hotel.
Greenwell, who graduated from Owensboro Catholic High school, averaged 23.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.6 steals a game as a senior. The 6-1 guard was a USA Today, McDonald’s and WBCA All-America selection this season. One highlight of her senior campaign was draining a record 17 three-pointers in one game. Greenwell is rated the No. 4 overall prospect by the Girls Basketball Report and No. 6 by HoopGurlz.
James Quick from Trinity High School and Makayla Epps from Marion County High School will also be honored at the event.
Duke incoming freshman class has been tabbed second in the nation and includes Greenwell, Kianna Holland, Kendall Cooper and Oderah Chidom.
