Thomas, USA Select Team to Face USA National Team

HARTFORD, Conn. – Duke University junior Jasmine Thomas along with the USA Basketball Women’s Select Team will face the 2010 USA Basketball Women’s National Team in a Red -White exhibition scrimmage on Sunday, April 18 in Hartford, Conn. Tickets for the Red-White contest, which will be played at 12:30 p.m. (EDT) at Hartford’s XL Center, are available online at, through Ticketmaster charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000 and in person at the XL Center box office. Seating for the scrimmage will be general admission and all tickets are $10 (other fees may apply).

A native of Fairfax, Va., Thomas had a breakout junior campaign as she was named one of 12 finalists for the State Farm Wade Trophy, Naismith and John R. Wooden candidate for National Player of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP, USBWA All-America, Associated Press Third Team All-America, Nancy Lieberman Award nominee, Kay Yow Award as the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America.

Members of the USA Select Team are: Kalana Greene (Connecticut), Kelsey Griffin (Nebraska), Hightower, Jantel Lavender (Ohio State / Cleveland, Ohio), Jacinta Monroe (Washington Mystics / Florida State / Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), Nnemkadi Ogwumike (Stanford / Cypress, Texas), Kayla Pedersen (Stanford / Fountain Hills, Ariz.), Andrea Riley (Los Angeles Sparks / Oklahoma State / Dallas, Texas), Danielle Robinson (Oklahoma / San Jose, Calif.), Jasmine Thomas (Duke / Fairfax, Va.) and Monica Wright (Minnesota Lynx / Virginia / Woodbridge, Va.).

Thomas led Duke to its sixth ACC Championship and a share of the ACC Regular Season title, after averaging 16.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.8 steals on the year.  The 5-11 guard started all 36 contests and led the Blue Devils with 11 games with 20 or more points scored.

The USA Women’s National Team will feature Seimone Augustus (Minnesota Lynx), Candice Dupree (Phoenix Mercury), Angel McCoughtry (Atlanta Dream), Swin Cash (Seattle Storm), Tina Charles (Connecticut Sun), Renee Montgomery (Connecticut Sun), Maya Moore (Connecticut) and Kara Lawson (Connecticut Sun).
