DURHAM, N.C. - Coming off a good showing at the WNBA free agent camp a couple of weeks ago, former Duke standout Bridgette Mitchell has signed a training camp contract with the Seattle Storm.
Mitchell, who is a native of Trenton, N.J., played overseas this past season and will be looking to gain one of Seattle's roster spots when training camp starts in May. The Storm is coming off winning the 2010 WNBA title last year under Head Coach Brian Agler.
A 6-1 wing, Mitchell graduated from Duke in 2010. She averaged 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds as a senior. Mitchell started 43 of 131 games played over her career and was one of Duke's all-time best offensive rebounders as she pulled down 276 over her four-year career.
The 2011 WNBA Draft will take place on Monday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m., on ESPN. Blue Devil senior Jasmine Thomas is expected to be selected in the first round.
