Blue Devil Hoops Overseas Update - April 18

DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off having the 2012 WNBA Draft on Monday and the training camps to open soon, a few different Blue Devils are closing out their overseas play before heading back to the states. Listed below is an update on each of the Duke alums through games of April 16.

Sheana Mosch:
Homend Antakya (Turkey) –Shooting Guard/Small Forward
2011-2012 Stats:
18 games, 12.4 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 1.6 APG, 0.8 SPG

Mosch helped Homend Antakya concluded their 2011-12 campaign with a 9-13 overall record and an eighth place finish. The shooting guard averaged 12.4 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game.  She scored a season-high 19 points on Nov. 20, 2011 as she helped Antakya defeat Optimum TED, 85-73.  Mosch tallied double-figure scoring in 14 of her 18 games this season. Antakya’s season came to an end when it lost back-to-back contests against No. 1 ranked Fenerbahc.

Monique Currie:
Homend Antakya (Turkey) –Shooting Guard/Small Forward
Drafted: 1st round (3rd pick) by the Charlotte Sting (2006)
2011-2012 Stats:
13 games, 16.6 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.2 SPG

Currie, an dominate offensive presence for Homend Antakya, ended the 2011-12 season averaging a team high of 16.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Currie scored in double figures in 11 of her 13 games, while scoring a season-high 28 points in the 76-73 win over No. 7 Ceyhan BLD. She helped lead Homen Antakya to a 9-13 record overall. Antakya’s season came to an end when it lost back-to-back contests against No. 1 ranked Fenerbahc.

Jessica Foley:
Townsville Fire (Australia) – Guard
Drafted: 3rd Round by the Indiana Fever
2011-2012 Stats:
24 games, 14.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.0 BPG

Foley helped Townsville Fire conclude their 2011-12 effort with a 14-10 overall record.  The guard finished the season averaging 14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.  Foley scored double-figures in 19 of her 24 games, while also recording two double-doubles.  She tallied a season high 29 points in the 105-94 win over Canberra.  Townsville Fire fell to the Dandenong Rangers 77-66 in its last game.
 
Mistie (Bass) Mims:
Challes-Les-Eaux (France) - Center
Drafted: 2nd round (21st overall) by the Phoenix Mercury (2006)
2011-2012 Stats:
23 games, 19.9 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Mims continues to be a solid impact player for the Challes-Les-Eaux, who are currently 19-6 and sitting in third place in the standings.  Mims recorded a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds as the Challes-Les-Eaux defeated No. 5 Tarbes, 75-48.  She tallied 19 points and five rebounds as Challes fell to top-ranked Bourges, 71-63. Challes-Les Eaux will enter the semifinals this week, where it will face Lattes Montpellier in back-to-back contests to determine who advances on. 

Chante Black:
Shandog (China) - Center
Drafted: 1st round (10th overall) by the Connecticut Suns (2009)
2011-2012 Stats:
19 games, 16.5 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.9 BPG

Black finished the season as the second-leading scorer on an offensive-minded Shandog team, which struggled to an 11th-place finish in the 12-team Women’s Chinese Basketball Association.

Carrem Gay
Toulouse Metropole (France) - Forward
2011-2012 Stats:
21 games, 12.0 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.1 APG, 2.4 SPG, 0.6 BPG

Gay continues to be an area of strength for the Toulouse Metropole who are currently 19-5 and sit in second place behind Perpignan.  Gay contributed 18 points, five rebounds and three steals in the 77-75 win over No. 5 Roche. She also tallied 14 points, six rebounds and an assist as Toulouse handed top-ranked Perpignan its fourth loss of the season. Gay and Toulouse will finish its last two regular season games against No. 9 Dunkerquie and No. 8 LTB 29 next week.

Bridgette Mitchell
Energa Torun (Poland) – Shooting Guard/Small Forward
2011-2012 Stats:
29 games, 9.0 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 0.9 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.6 BPG

Mitchell is a consistent contributor for the Energa Torun, who ended their 2011-12 campaign with an overall record of 18-12.  Energa Torun advanced out of the quarterfinals when it handed No. 5 ROW Rybnik three consecutives defeats. The Energa Torun advanced to the semifinals where it faced Wisla Can-Pak.  Mitchell tallied seven points and three rebounds as the Energa Torun fell 74-49  in round one of the semifinals, she recorded two points in the 82-54 second round loss and she scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds in the third round 82-63 loss. Mitchell ended the season averaging 9.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.

Jasmine Thomas
Frisco Sika Brno (Czech Republic) – Guard
Drafted: 1st Round (10th pick) by the Seattle Storm (2011)
2011-2012 Stats:
27 games, 12.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.3 APG, 3.2 SPG, 0.3 BPG

Thomas remains a contributor for Frisco Sika Brno, who are now 24-8 overall, sitting in second place behind USK Praha. Frisco Sika Brno defeated Trutnov, 78-66, in the first round, 78-73 in the second round of the semifinals where Thomas did not play because of a coach’s decision. In the third round of the semifinals, Frisco Sika Brno and Thomas defeated Trutnov 70-57, where she registered four points and four rebounds.  Frisco Sika Brno will advance to the finals next week where it will face top-ranked USK Praha.

Krystal Thomas
Union Lyon (France) - Center
Drafted: 2nd Round (36th pick) by the Seattle Storm (2011)
2011-2012 Stats:
22 games, 8.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.5 SPG, 1.0 BPG

Thomas remains a solid role player for the Union Lyon, averaging 8.5 points per game and 7.5 points per game. Thomas registered 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as Union Lyon fell to Villeneuve.  She tallied a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds in the 78-69 loss to Lattes Montpellier. Thomas and the Union Lyon rounded out its regular-season play with two loses to fall to 14-12 overall to sit in sixth place. 

Karima Christmas
Bnot Hasharon (Isreal) – Shooting Guard/Small Forward
Drafted: 2nd Round (23rd pick) by the Washington Mystics
2011-2012 Stats:
18 games, 20.0 PPG, 10.3 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.7 BPG

Christmas, a key offensive contributor for the Bnot Hasharon concluded the regular season in sixth place in an 11-team division with a record of 10-10.  Christmas was an offensive presence for the Bnot Hasharon as she registered double figures in 17 of her 18 games, while reaching the 20 points plateau in 11 contests. She scored a season-high 28 points in the 92-77 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva. Christmas finished off the 2011-12 campaign as she averaged 20.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Alana Beard
Elitzur Ramla (Israel – Shooting Guard/Small Forward
Drafted: 1st Round (2nd pick) by the Washington Mystics
2011-2012 Stats:
9 games, 13.4 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 3.2 APG, 2.4 SPG, 0.7 BPG

Beard continues to be a contributor for Elitzur Ramla.  Elitzur Ramla is 15-5 overall and currently sit in second place with Maccabi Ashdod. Elitzur Ramla faced Ramat Hasharon in back-to-back contests in the semifinals. Beard tallied eight points and five rebounds in the first 72-67 win, while also scoring six points and pulling down seven rebounds in the second 60-59 win. Elitzur Ramla and Beard are set to face Maccabi Ashdod in the finals next week.
