DURHAM, N.C. – As WNBA training camps open, a few different Blue Devils continue to close out their overseas play before heading back to the states. Listed below is an update on each of the Duke alums through games of May 3.
Mims and Challes-Les-Eaux closed its 2011-12 campaign in the semifinals of the postseason when it dropped two of the three-game series to Lattes Montpellier. She tallied 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the only win of the series (74-69). Mims scored 16 points, pulled down three rebounds and handed out three assists in the first loss (78-58). The Center registered seven points and three rebounds in the 52-47 loss that denied Challes the opportunity to advance. Mims finishes the season as one of teams most offensively minded player, scoring double-figures in 25 of her 28 games and reaching the 20 plus points plateau in 15 games this season.
Gay remains an impact player for the Toulouse Metropole, who finished out their regular season with a record of 20-6. The forward scored four points, tallied four boards and handed out one assist in the 69-54 victory over Dunkerque. She tallied eight points and seven rebounds in the 73-65 loss to LBT 29. Gay and Toulouse Metropole will begin its postseason campaign on May 12 against COB Calais in the semifinal round.
Frisco Sika Brno (Czech Republic) – Guard
Drafted: 1st Round (10th pick) by the Seattle Storm (2011)
2011-2012 Stats: 30 games, 12.4 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.2 APG, 3.1 SPG, 0.3 BPG
Thomas and the Frisco Sika Brno fell to top-ranked USK Praha in a three-game finale. She registered 15 points, two rebounds and two assists in the first game where it lost 99-80, while scoring two points and recording four steals in the 88-61 loss. In the third game, Thomas scored 20 points and pulled down seven defensive rebounds as her squad fell, 82-52, in the final game of the 2011-12 campaign. The guard finishes the season averaging 12.4 points per game, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Thomas scored double figures in 22 of her 30 games this season as Sika Brno rounded out the season with a 24-8 record.
Elitzur Ramla (Israel – Shooting Guard/Small Forward
Drafted: 1st Round (2nd pick) by the Washington Mystics
2011-2012 Stats: 13 games, 12.6 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 2.7 APG, 2.4 SPG, 0.5 BPG
Beard and the Elitzur Ramla finished out its 2011-12 campaign when the squad fell to Maccabi Ashdod in the fifth game for the Premier League title. In the first game of the series, Beard tallied eight points and one rebound as it fell, 58-56, to Maccabi Ashdod. Beard led Eliturz Ramla to two consecutive wins to lead the series 2-1, when she scored 15 points and pulled down five rebounds in the first game (68-60), and seven points, three rebounds and an assist in the second win (60-58). Maccabi Ashdod came back to win and force a fifth game. Ashdod scored 25 points in the final 10 minutes to notch the win, 58-57. Beard scored a season-high 23 points and tallied four rebounds in the loss. In the final match up, Elitzur Ramla and Maccabi Ashdod were tied at the half and at the end of regulation forcing overtime. Beard recorded 13 points, two rebounds and an assist, as her team fell to Maccabi Ashdod, 70-66. Beard concludes the season averaging 30.9 minutes, 12.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, while registering double figure scoring in nine of her 13 games. Beard will return to the states and join the Los Angeles Sparks at training camp as she prepares for the upcoming WNBA season.
Mosch helped Homend Antakya concluded their 2011-12 campaign with a 9-13 overall record and an eighth place finish. The shooting guard averaged 12.4 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game. She scored a season-high 19 points on Nov. 20, 2011 as she helped Antakya defeat Optimum TED, 85-73. Mosch tallied double-figure scoring in 14 of her 18 games this season. Antakya’s season came to an end when it lost back-to-back contests against No. 1 ranked Fenerbahc.
Homend Antakya (Turkey) –Shooting Guard/Small Forward

2011-2012 Stats: 13 games, 16.6 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.2 SPG
Currie, an dominate offensive presence for Homend Antakya, ended the 2011-12 season averaging a team high of 16.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Currie scored in double figures in 11 of her 13 games, while scoring a season-high 28 points in the 76-73 win over No. 7 Ceyhan BLD. She helped lead Homen Antakya to a 9-13 record overall. Antakya’s season came to an end when it lost back-to-back contests against No. 1 ranked Fenerbahc.
Townsville Fire (Australia) – Guard
Drafted: 3rd Round by the Indiana Fever
2011-2012 Stats: 24 games, 14.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.0 BPG
Foley helped Townsville Fire conclude their 2011-12 effort with a 14-10 overall record. The guard finished the season averaging 14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Foley scored double-figures in 19 of her 24 games, while also recording two double-doubles. She tallied a season high 29 points in the 105-94 win over Canberra. Townsville Fire fell to the Dandenong Rangers 77-66 in its last game.
Shandog (China) - Center
Drafted: 1st round (10th overall) by the Connecticut Suns (2009)
2011-2012 Stats: 19 games, 16.5 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.9 BPG
Black finished the season as the second-leading scorer on an offensive-minded Shandog team, which struggled to an 11th-place finish in the 12-team Women’s Chinese Basketball Association.
Mitchell is a consistent contributor for the Energa Torun, who ended their 2011-12 campaign with an overall record of 18-12. Energa Torun advanced out of the quarterfinals when it handed No. 5 ROW Rybnik three consecutives defeats. The Energa Torun advanced to the semifinals where it faced Wisla Can-Pak. Mitchell tallied seven points and three rebounds as the Energa Torun fell 74-49 in round one of the semifinals, she recorded two points in the 82-54 second round loss and she scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds in the third round 82-63 loss. Mitchell ended the season averaging 9.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.
Union Lyon (France) - Center

2011-2012 Stats: 22 games, 8.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.5 SPG, 1.0 BPG
Thomas remains a solid role player for the Union Lyon, averaging 8.5 points per game and 7.5 points per game. Thomas registered 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists as Union Lyon fell to Villeneuve. She tallied a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds in the 78-69 loss to Lattes Montpellier. Thomas and the Union Lyon rounded out its regular-season play with two loses to fall to 14-12 overall to sit in sixth place.
Christmas, a key offensive contributor for the Bnot Hasharon concluded the regular season in sixth place in an 11-team division with a record of 10-10. Christmas was an offensive presence for the Bnot Hasharon as she registered double figures in 17 of her 18 games, while reaching the 20 points plateau in 11 contests. She scored a season-high 28 points in the 92-77 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva. Christmas finished off the 2011-12 campaign as she averaged 20.0 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
