Hi again DWB fans!

It’s been a busy time since my last post and I’m already closing in on my last week in Washington, D.C., before heading back to Durham and getting back to work with my teammates!

Last week was a bit slower in the office, since the House of Representatives were not voting on any bills.  On Wednesday, I went to a conference about foreign policy and international relations where one of my Duke professors, Peter Feaver, headlined a panel on national security strategy. I got to spend a little time chatting with him and meeting a few of his colleagues in that sector.

I spent a beautiful Father’s Day weekend with my mom and dad, who many of you have probably seen sitting anxiously in the Cameron Indoor Stadium bleachers.  Friday night we saw Jasmine Thomas play for the Washington Mystics, along with fellow Duke alum Monique Currie. They picked up a big second win for the season against the Indiana Fever. Jas was her normal defensive pest and made some big plays for her team as they came away with a one point win.

I went to my first major league baseball game on Saturday, watching the Nationals take on my hometown heroes, the New York Yankees. It was a 14-inning special, and while DJ (Derek Jeter) was 0-for-6, I’m happy to say that the Yanks’ winning streak did not end while I was in the stands.

And on Father’s Day we did a sprint through most of the D.C. monuments—the Lincoln, Jefferson and FDR memorials along with a stop through the new Martin Luther King, Jr. one.  It was an inspiring and tiring day.

This week is off to a busier start and I got to grab a bite to eat after work with former Duke football/basketball player Reggie Love and some of his colleagues from his days as President Obama’s body man. They had some great advice for when I move on and try to balance basketball and a career.

It’s been another great few weeks for me! Counting my blessings as a member of the Duke and Duke basketball families!

Go Duke!
