DURHAM, N.C. – For those fans excited about the upcoming Duke women’s basketball season, the preseason second-ranked Blue Devils will host their annual Blue/White scrimmage on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1:00 p.m., in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game will be free admission and following the contest the student-athletes will be signing autographs.
An additional reward to fans that attend the scrimmage and the exhibition games against Shaw, on Oct. 30, and Queens, on Nov. 4, is the opportunity to purchase individual game tickets before the general public. Tickets officially go on sale on Monday, Nov. 5.
The Blue Devils have been preseason picked to win the ACC by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel. Duke received 29 of 47 first place votes on its way to earning the top slot, while Maryland received the other 18 first place votes. Rounding out the preseason poll was Georgia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, Miami, Florida State, N.C. State, Wake Forest, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Boston College.
Members of the Blue Ribbon Panel also voted on a 10-member preseason All-ACC team with Duke junior Chelsea Gray and sophomore Elizabeth Williams listed on the squad. The Blue Devil duo are coming off earning All-America honors a year ago.
Head coach Joanne P. McCallie, who enters her sixth year with the Blue Devils, is coming off leading Duke (27-6) to its third straight ACC regular season title and the first outright crown since the 2006-07 campaign.
