DURHAM, N.C. – Several Duke women’s basketball alumnae continued to play well overseas.  Listed below are updates on each Blue Devil.  

Alana Beard
Shinhan Bank S-Birds – South Korea
2013-14 South Korean League Stats: 35 games, 8.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 0.8 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Beard opened the month of March with strong play for the Shinhan Bank S-Birds, averaging 12 points per game over the three-game stretch. Beard nearly recorded a double-double after scoring 14 points and collecting eight rebounds in a contest that pitted the small forward against fellow former Blue Devil Monique Currie. The eight-rebound performance nearly matched Beard’s season-high of nine rebounds.

Monique Currie
KB Stars – South Korea
2013-14 South Korean League Stats: 36 games, 21.3 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 1.8 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.6 BPG
Currie saw her highest scoring output of the season in a KB Stars’ 82-72 victory over Winnus as the shooting guard scored 44 points on 16-of-27 shooting from the field, including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the three-point line. Currie followed the performance two games later with a 27-point showing against former Blue Devil Alana Beard and the Shinhan Bank S-Birds. Currie has scored 20 or more points in 22 of her 36 appearances this season.

Jessica Foley
Adelaide Lightning – Australia
2013-14 Stats: 19 games, 11.7 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.6 BPG

Following a month-long hiatus due to injury, Foley returned to the Adelaide Lightning lineup to close out the season Feb. 15. Foley saw 25 minutes of action in the season finale, scoring 11 points, collecting two rebounds and adding an assist. Foley posted the second-highest points per game average among the starters of the Adelaide Lightning in 2013-14.

Kathleen Scheer
Sydney UF – Australia
2013-14 Stats: 24 games, 8.7 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 0.7 APG, 0.2 SPG, 0.6 BPG

Scheer concluded her first Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) season Saturday, Feb. 15, as the Sydney University Flame defeated the West Coast Waves, 79-54. Scheer scored three points in 14 minutes of playing time while also collecting three rebounds and recording an assist in the final game of the season.

Karima Christmas
Maccabi Ramat Hen – Israel
2013-14 Stats: 20 games, 19.5 PPG, 12.6 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.9 SPG, 0.7 BPG
Christmas’ successful 2013-14 season continued as the second stage of play got underway in the Israeli Basketball League. Through 20 games this season, Christmas posted 15 double-doubles, including a stretch of 10 consecutive games with a double-double. In her four most recent appearances, Christmas averaged 17.25 points per game and 10.25 rebounds per game.

Perfumerias – Spain

2013-14 Stats (Euroleague): 13 games, 4.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.5 SPG, 1.2 BPG

Thomas posted a strong showing in the semifinal round of the Copa de la Reina, scoring seven points and six rebounds in 25 minutes of action Feb. 24. In her most recent appearance, Thomas netted five points and recorded nine rebounds with the EuroLeague Women playoffs on the horizon for Perfumerias Avenida.

Chante Black
Umbertide – Italy
2013-14 Stats: 17 games, 11.5 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 0.6 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.4 BPG

Although missing Umbertide’s most recent contest against Ragusa due to injury, Black has proven herself a key component of the team. While averaging a double-double this season, Black also leads Umbertide in rebounds and ranks third on the team in points per game. In her most recent game, an Umbertide 69-59 victory over Parma, Black recorded 15 rebounds, nearly matching her season high of 16. Black also added 13 points in the win.

Mistie Bass
Lyon – France
2013-14 Stats: 20 games, 16.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.3 BPG

Bass netted 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field and added 11 rebounds in a 84-77 defeat at the hands of Villeneuve. Bass’ performance marks her fourth double-double of the season. In her three most recent games, Bass averaged 16 points and seven rebounds. Bass also represented Lyon in the French League All-Star Game, headlining all scorers with 24 points in 28 minutes.
