DURHAM, N.C. – With playoffs getting underway in many of the women’s overseas basketball leagues, numerous Duke women’s basketball alums are contributing to their respective team’s advancements in postseason play.  See below how the Blue Devils are performing.

Alana Beard
Shinhan Bank S-Birds – South Korea
2013-14 South Korean League Stats: 42 games, 9.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 0.9 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Beard and the Shinhan Bank S-Birds fell to the Woori Bank Hansae, 67-66, in Game 4 of the Korean League finals in South Korea, ending Beard’s season. In the loss, Beard scored 10 points in 19 minutes of action. Beard averaged 10.8 points, five rebounds, one assist and 1.5 blocks per game during her play in the finals. Beard proved herself a consistent scorer throughout the season, netting double-digit points in 18 games and 20 or more points in four games this season.

Monique Currie
KB Stars – South Korea
2013-14 South Korean League Stats: 39 games, 20.9 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.9 SPG, 0.7 BPG
Currie and the KB Stars fell to Beard and the Shinhan Bank S-Birds, 87-80, in a semifinal game of the Korean League playoffs. Currie scored eight points in the loss. Prior to the loss, Curie recorded double-digit scoring games in nine consecutive appearances. Over the nine-game stretch, Currie averaged 23 points per game and scored a season-high 44 points. Currie concluded the season as the KB Stars’ leading scorer and rebounder.

Jessica Foley
Norwood Flames – Australia
2013-14 Stats: 4 games, 7.5 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Following her time with the Adelaide Lightning, Foley joined the Norwood Flames March 15. Foley opened her season with the Flames by playing over 25 minutes and scoring nine points in an 80-44 defeat of the Sturt Sabres. Foley’s highest scoring output came against the North Adelaide Rockets April 12, when the guard notched 14 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the floor.

Kathleen Scheer
Hobart Chargers – Australia
2013-14 Stats: 5 games, 20.0 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.8 SPG, 1.6 BPG

In her first five games with the Hobart Chargers, Scheer has posted impressive numbers, scoring double-digit points in all five appearance, including a season-high 28 points on April 5. In addition to contributing on the offensive end of the floor, Scheer has also proven herself as a force on the boards, averaging over eight rebounds a game.

Karima Christmas
Maccabi Ramat Hen – Israel
2013-14 Stats: 25 games, 19.9 PPG, 12.0 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.6 BPG
Christmas and Maccabi Ramat Hen suffered a loss against Elitzur Ramla, 82-68, in game four of the semifinal round of the Israeli Basketball League playoffs. Christmas scored 22 points and collected seven rebounds in the defeat. Christmas scored double-digit points in all 25 games this season for Maccabi Ramat Hen, including 12 games with 20 or more points. Christmas, who averaged a double-double, led her team in both scoring and rebounding for the season.

Krystal Thomas
Perfumerias – Spain
Perfumerias - Euroleague
2013-14 Stats (Spain): 24 games, 4.6 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.6 SPG, 1.2 BPG
2013-14 Stats (Euroleague): 14 games, 4.2 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 0.9 APG, 0.4 SPG, 1.1 BPG

Playoffs continued in Spain for Thomas and Perfumerias Avenida, with game one of the semifinals against Bembibre. Thomas contributed four points and seven rebounds in the 72-69 victory. One week later, in the second game of the semifinal round, Thomas and Perfumerias Avenida routed Bembibre, 92-54. Thomas once again scored four points while adding six rebounds in the victory.

Chante Black
Umbertide – Italy
2013-14 Stats: 22 games, 11.2 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 0.5 APG, 0.9 SPG, 1.4 BPG

Black and Umbertide advanced in the playoffs after defeating Parma, 60-50, in game three of the quarterfinal round of the Italian League. Black recorded 10 points and collected six rebounds in the decisive game-three victory. Black and Umbertide opened semifinal round play with a 56-55 win over Ragusa April 8. Black shot 5-of-12 from the floor en route to a 12-point game. In Umbertide’s most recent contest, Black scored four points and added seven rebounds in an 82-55 loss.

Mistie Bass
Lyon – France
2013-14 Stats: 25 games, 16.8 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.7 SPG, 0.3 BPG

Bass opened play in April with Lyon by leading her team in scoring with 19 points on a near-perfect 8-of-9 shooting performance from the floor. Four days later, Bass netted 20 points in a 55-48 loss at the hands of Toulouse. Bass has scored double-digit points in all 25 appearances this season and is shooting .587 percent from the floor. Bass leads the Lyon starters in both points per game and rebounds per game.  She was named the MVP for the month of March.
