Jackson, 31, just completed her third season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Duke University under head coach Joanne P. McCallie. She worked mainly with the guards and was a part of the Blue Devils’ back-to-back NCAA Elite Eight appearances in 2012 and 2013.
“I’m just really excited for Candice,” commented McCallie. “She has put in so much time and learning as an assistant coach. She has had great experiences at Richmond, Wake Forest and here at Duke. Being a former player of mine and the very first recruit I had at Michigan State, I am very proud. She is a caring person, has a great philosophy and excellent work ethic. She is excited and eager to get started. This is a time in her life where she is prepared to put the time and the energy into the program and develop it further. I’m just very proud and excited and I will always be here to help her in any way.”
Jackson, who previously coached at Wake Forest University and the University of Richmond, helped Duke sign three-consecutive highly-ranked recruiting classes including the No. 3 overall prospect in the Class of 2012. She is a former guard who played at Michigan State from 2000-04 and was McCallie’s first recruit in East Lansing, Mich.
