DURHAM, N.C. - Elizabeth Williams scored 18 points to help No. 4 Duke beat Valparaiso 90-45 on Friday night.

Tricia Liston added 17 points and a career-high 12 rebounds for the Blue Devils (3-0), who blew open the game with a 29-4 run beginning midway through the first half.

Haley Peters scored 16 points for Duke. Chelsea Gray and Ka'lia Johnson had 11 points each for the Blue Devils.

Duke outscored Valparaiso 54-10 in the lane en route to its 57th consecutive home victory over unranked non-conference opponents.

The Blue Devils scored at least 80 points for the third time in as many games, the first time they have done that to open a season since 2005.

Tabitha Gerardot scored eight points to lead the Crusaders (2-3), who lost their third game in a row.

Valparaiso shot just 29 percent from the floor, including 8 of 30 from 3-point range.

Duke led 48-22 at halftime, pulling away on the strength of its defense. When the Blue Devils weren't forcing turnovers with their full-court press, they were forcing Valparaiso to shoot long jump shots over their matchup zone.

Duke won its first two games of the season by a combined 108 points, turning each into a laugher early. The Blue Devils needed a few more minutes to shake Valparaiso.

The Crusaders competed from the opening tip, grabbing three offensive rebounds on their opening possession. They ended up with no points on that trip, missing all four shots, but they led 5-4 after four minutes.

Valparaiso trailed just 17-15 after Liz Horton made a 3-pointer from the right corner with 11:58 to go in the half, but Duke took over from there.

The Blue Devils scored the next 10 points, converting three steals into layups and getting a 3-pointer by Liston during the spurt.

Two timeouts by Valparaiso coach Tracey Dorow did little to change the momentum.

The Crusaders made just 2 of 17 shots and committed eight turnovers as Duke turned a two-point edge into a 27-point lead just before halftime.
