In May 2004, he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing, with Corporate Relations added to the title in 2008. Sobb was also responsible for Duke Athletics’ corporate partners program for nearly 20 years until IMG College assumed the rights in July 2009. After serving as Associate Athletic Director, External Affairs from 2009 through July 2013, Sobb moved into his current role.
Sobb serves as the department liaison with IMG College, Duke’s multi-media rights holder, and IMG Learfield Ticket Solutions, the sales side of Duke Athletics ticket area. His role includes driving revenue, budget relief for the entire department of athletics, looking for new sources of revenue for Duke Athletics, and serving as the department contact with various corporate entities and community groups in the area. He will also head corporate sales for future suites, loge and club seats in Wallace Wade Stadium and other venues within the expanding athletics complex over the next few years.
Sobb is on the board of the Durham Chamber of Commerce’s Durham2.0 committee, is the athletics representative on the Corporate Relations and Calendar Committees for Duke University, and is a founding member of the South Durham Little League Foundation.
