Honors: Indoor ACC Champion (heptathlon - 2013)...NCAA East First Round Participant (Pole Vault - 2013) 2012-13: Earned his first ACC Indoor Championship in the men’s heptathlon with a point total of 5,328…ranks third on the Duke all-time list in the event…served as Duke’s top performer of the season in the long jump and 60 meter hurdles…earned personal record marks throughout the season in six out of seven events…finished sixth at the ACC Indoor Championships in the men’s pole vault, clearing a personal best 16-9.25 (5.11)…Outdoors, finished 10th in the decathlon at the Texas Relays, breaking the 7,000 barrier for the first time with a point total of 7,030…ranks third on Duke’s all-time list in the event…earned personal record marks in nine out of ten events on the season…forced to withdrawal from the ACC Outdoor Championships after pulling his hamstring in the 100.
2011-12: Transitioned to being a multi-event athlete during his freshman year...indoors, placed fifth in his first heptathlon with 4,659 points...competed at ACC Indoor Championships but was forced to withdraw due to injury...outdoors, finished sixth at the ACC Outdoor Championships with a point total of 6,585....that point total ranks fifth on Duke's all-time list in the event...his highest finish during the 10-event competition came in the final event, the 1,500m, where he crossed the line second with a time of 4:45.83.
Prior to Duke: Three-year letterwinner at Davis...California state champion in the pole vault as a senior, vaulting a school-record mark of 16-1...also claimed the sectional championship in the same event...named Davis Athlete of the Year as a senior.
Personal: Son of Chris and Sarah Rock...born Sept. 27, 1992...has one brother, Neal, and one sister, Charlotte...mother, Sarah, rowed crew at Cal...father, Chris, swam at Michigan State (1979-80).
