DURHAM, N.C.  - Sophomore Conner Stevens and Remy Janco threw five stellar innings in relief as the Blue Team seized a 6-2 victory over the Black squad Sunday in the Duke baseball team's Fall World Series. Blue now leads Black 2-1 heading into game four of the series.

Seven different players recorded hits for Blue, led by sophomore Andy Perez and Aaron Cohn with two hits each. Junior Mike Rosenfeld, redshirt sophomore Chris Marconcini and junior Matt Berezo were the only players to record hits for Black in the loss.

Blue took an early lead with a single run in the top of the first on doubles by Perez and junior Jordan Betts. Black answered with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning, utilizing clutch hitting from Marconicini and Berezo.

The two first inning runs would be all the offense Black would muster as Stevens entered the game in the third and faced the minimum in three strong innings. Stevens struck out three and allowed just one walk to senior Jeff Kremer, who was later thrown out trying to steal.

The Blue Team bats heated up in the fourth inning as they touched Black reliever Jake Cosart for two runs on a two-out, two-RBI single by Cohn. Blue was not done there as four of the first five batters in the sixth reached base on freshman reliever Kenny Koplove. Cohn once again did most of the damage, delivering a second two-RBI single.

The six runs were more than enough for Blue in the end. Janco entered the game in relief of Stevens and tallied two strong innings to close out the game. After giving up a leadoff single to Rosenfeld, Janco retired the next six batters he faced to seal the impressive win for Blue.

The two teams continue the best-of seven-series Thursday, November 8 with the first pitch slated for 8 a.m.
