DURHAM, N.C. - Former Blue Devil greats Bob Brower and Mike Trombley will serve as guest speakers at Duke baseball's inaugural First Pitch Hot Stove Classic. The catered event is set for Saturday, Jan. 26 from 5:30-7-30 p.m., in the Fuqua School of Business' Kirby Reading Room on the campus of Duke University.

Brower lettered four seasons (1979-82) at Duke, leaving his mark on many of the school career records lists. He continues to rank in the top 20 in program history in triples (2nd - 20), stolen bases (3rd - 75), slugging percentage (8th - .534) and batting average (17th - .320). Brower was signed by the Texas Rangers in 1982 and played four seasons in the Major Leagues with the Rangers and the New York Yankees. In 582 career MLB at bats, he posted 141 hits, 17 home runs and 60 RBI.

Trombley spent three seasons in Durham from 1987-89, leading the Blue Devils in both strikeouts and innings pitched in both 1988 (105 K, 103.0 IP) and 1989 (89 K, 91.0 IP). He was selected in the 14th round (371st overall) of the 1989 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins. Trombley pitched in the Majors Leagues from 1992-2002 with the Twins, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Baltimore Orioles. For his career, he posted a 37-47 record with a 4.48 ERA.

In addition to the two guest speakers, Saturday's event also provides fans the opportunity to meet the 2013 Blue Devils and preview the upcoming season.
