DURHAM, N.C. – In an effort to increase community awareness, Duke baseball head coach Chris Pollard spoke at the Durham Rotary Club this past week.
The Duke head coach, now entering his second season, discussed the evolution of the Duke baseball program and the strides the Blue Devils have made in attaining their future goals.
Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. Paul P. Harris formed the world’s first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, Ill., in 1905 and today there are approximately 1.2 members worldwide.
The first civic club in Durham, the Downtown Durham Rotary Club, was organized in November 1915. The downtown club meets each Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the downtown Durham Marriot at the Civic Center.
