DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke baseball standout and current Lowell Spinners third baseman Jordan Betts earned a spot in the New-York Penn League All-Star game, hosted by the Brooklyn Cyclones. Betts registered a hit in his lone plate appearance of the contest, which ended in a 1-1 tie.
Lowell, the Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, placed three other players on the All-Star North squad.
An 18th round selection by the Red Sox in the 2014 MLB Draft, Betts homered in his professional debut with the Spinners and has impressed all season, ranking fifth in the league in home run (8), slugging percentage (.500) and OPS (.839).
Betts leads the Spinners in home runs and has excelled against left-handed pitching, batting .356 with four homers. Overall, Betts is batting .275 with 12 doubles, two triples and 30 RBI.
