DURHAM, N.C. - Duke head baseball coach Chris Pollard has announced the addition of Josh Jordan to the Blue Devil coaching staff. Jordan will serve as an assistant coach, working with the team's catchers and outfielders while serving as the program's recruiting coordinator. Jordan will also be involved in teaching both hitting and baserunning.

"I am extremely excited that Josh has accepted the offer to join our staff at Duke University," said Pollard. "Over his six years as recruiting coordinator at Appalachian State, he has worked tirelessly and passionately to bring the very best student-athletes into the program. What I most appreciate, however, is the respect he has earned throughout the Boone community for the professional and positive manner with which he approaches his craft. He and his wife Erika will be great additions to the Duke Athletics family!"

Jordan joins the Blue Devils after spending six seasons as an assistant coach under Pollard at Appalachian State. With the Mountaineers, his responsibilities included working primarily with ASU's catchers and outfielders as well as serving as the team's first-base coach. In Jordan's tenure in Boone, Appalachian State won 210 games as the Mountaineers secured six straight 30-win seasons.

"Josh is also a great teacher of the game of baseball," added Pollard. "His player development skills have yielded unquestioned results. I have no doubts he will bring that same energy and effort to the job at Duke."

Jordan came to Appalachian State from Young Harris College in 2006 after leading the Mountain Lions to a runner-up finish in the 2006 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XVII Tournament.

Prior to his stint at Young Harris, Jordan spent two seasons at Fort Hays State in Hays, Kan. He began his time at Fort Hays as a graduate assistant in 2004 before ? to the Tigers' top assistant and recruiting coordinator the following year.

Jordan played second base at Catawba College from 1999-2002, leading the Indians to the 2002 South Atlantic Conference Tournament championship. He began his coaching career as a volunteer coach at his alma mater in 2003.

Jordan holds a B.A. in social studies education from Catawba and also earned an M.S. in exercise from Fort Hays State in 2005. A native of Gastonia, N.C., he was a four-year letterwinner and an all-conference performer at Hunter Huss High School from 1995-98.
