DURHAM, N.C. – With the 2014 season opener under two weeks away, head coach Chris Pollard and the Blue Devils are excited to announce the debut of the Duke Baseball Radio Show Monday, Feb. 10. The show, hosted by Chris Edwards, will take place every Monday throughout the season from 6:30-7 p.m. at Tobacco Road Sports Café adjacent to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Monday’s debut marks the first of 16 shows scheduled for the 2014 season. Fans are encouraged to attend each week and can participate in the show by submitting questions via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Twitter (@Duke_BASE). The Duke Baseball Radio Show is also a production of the Blue Devil Network and will air live on GoDuke.com.
“The Duke Baseball Radio Show is a great way to create momentum for our baseball program,” said Pollard. “I appreciate the work of Chris Edwards – the voice of Duke baseball – along with IMG and Mike Sobb to pull this project together. We are very excited to host the show at Tobacco Road Sports Café. The folks at Tobacco Road have been tremendous supporters of Duke baseball, and we see this radio show as a unique opportunity to strengthen our great partnership. I’m looking forward to Monday night!”
Pollard became Duke’s 25th head baseball coach in June of 2012, taking over the reins of the Blue Devil program after successful stints at Pfeiffer University and Appalachian State University. Duke kicked off the 2013 campaign with a victory over perennial power Florida as the Blue Devils would go on to eclipse their win total from the previous season, securing 26 victories for their first-year head coach. Duke’s 26 wins during Pollard’s inaugural campaign marked the most by a Blue Devil first-year head coach in school history.
The Blue Devils open the 2014 season Feb. 14-16 with a three-game home series at Jack Coombs Field against 2013 America East champion Binghamton. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.GoDuke.com/tickets or by calling the Duke Ticket Office at (919) 681-2583 or 1-877-375-3853.
