The Blue Devils had two players named to the ACC All-Tournament Team for the first time since 1992. In addition, Deitrich and Van Orden are just the sixth and seventh Duke players to garner the distinction in program history.
Deitrich was sensational in three games at the tournament, batting a team-best .500 (7-for-14) at Greensboro’s NewBridge Bank Park. The Collegeville, Pa., native hit a home run against both Clemson and Georgia Tech while also adding five RBI for the week.
Van Orden tossed his first career shutout to guide Duke to a 6-0 victory over Georgia Tech. The Manhattan Beach, Calif., native scattered five hits while striking out eight batters and walking just one. Following a single in the third, Van Orden did not allow another hit until the eighth and retired 13 of the next 15 batters he faced. He struck out at least one batter in seven frames, including back-to-back strikeouts to conclude the seventh.
