DURHAM, N.C. – One of Duke’s top power hitters, Chris Marconcini split time between first base and right field during his collegiate career. One of the ACC leaders in home runs and RBI this past season, he drove in 38 or more runs in each of his active seasons with the Blue Devils. An All-ACC second team selection, he is one of just 16 Blue Devils to total 20 or more home runs in a career. Marconcini completed his degree in sociology this past spring.
GoDuke.com caught up with the Brentwood, Tenn., native.
GoDuke.com: What are your three favorite things about being a Duke student-athlete?
Marconcini: Being able to choose classes first. Being able to play baseball while studying. And the gear.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite on-field memory?
CM: I go back all the way to freshman year … my first game on my birthday opening day when I hit the walk-off versus Richmond.
GoDuke.com: What is your favorite off-field memory?
CM: I’d have to go with an event where all our team is together.
GoDuke.com: What are three things you would do on an off day?
CM: Sleep in. I’d probably go to a movie, and then go to a really good restaurant.
GoDuke.com: Who are three people you would like to have dinner with?
CM: Warren Buffet, Mark Zuckerburg and I’d have to go with Joe Torre.
GoDuke.com: Describe yourself in three words.
CM: That’s a tough one. Easy-going, process-oriented [laughs] and quiet.
