DURHAM, N.C. –After starting Sundays in 2013, Robert Huber thrived as Duke’s closer this past season. He finished the year with 10 saves to rank among the ACC leaders, and is one of just three Duke players to record 10 or more saves in a single season. The two-time ACC Pitcher of the Week is also one of four Blue Devils to total 10 or more saves as well as 15 or more career victories. The two-time All-ACC Academic Team honors and three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection graduated this spring with a degree in computer science and a minor in history.

GoDuke.com caught up with the Plano, Texas, native.

GoDuke.com: What are your three favorite things about being a Duke student-athlete?
Huber: Being able to represent a school that not only strives academically but also in a conference that is considered one of the best baseball conferences in the country. That’s definitely one of the biggest parts about being a Duke student-athlete. Also the community of athletes and the teams. A bunch of the teams are really close. It’s nice to know that certain teams come support us, and we can support them. And these teams are all really great at what they do. And the last one, I’d probably say is the facilities here are top notch. Everything from the weight room to the baseball field  … it’s really fun playing here.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite on-field memory?
RH: My favorite on-the-field memory would probably be Georgia Tech at home … going out for the ninth inning after I’d thrown eight shutout innings to go for the complete game shutout. It was spring because the trees had the little white flowers on them. I guess the wind gusted, and I came out to the mound and the flowers floated all over the field. It was really majestic. I’ll always remember that as my favorite moment.

GoDuke.com: What is your favorite off-field memory?
RH: It’s easy to say graduation because that’s the freshest thing that comes to mind. I’d probably say my favorite memory is arriving on East Campus as a freshman and meeting my roommate, but also we all met as a team and we met all the other freshmen. That’s when we really knew we were going to be on a journey for four years. Basically meeting everybody and meeting my family was probably the best moment off the field.

GoDuke.com: Describe yourself in three words.
RH: I’d say professional, motivated and dedicated.

GoDuke.com: Who are three people you would like to have dinner with?
RH: We talk about this all the time in the dugout, we have to name a guy and a girl. For my guy, I’d say Bill Murray because he’d hilarious to have dinner with. For a girl, Jennifer Lawrence. And someone in the past … I’ll throw in Babe Ruth.

GoDuke.com: What are three things you couldn’t live without as a kid?
RH: As a kid … Game Boy, ICEE pops and waffles.
