DURHAM, N.C. - Duke baseball junior Robert Huber was named Ronald McDonald House Student-Athlete of the Week after throwing his second complete game shutout in as many starts and leading Duke to a series-clinching, 3-0 win over No. 15 Georgia Tech Sunday.
Georgia Tech entered the weekend as the nation’s leading club in batting average, slugging percentage and home runs per game, but Huber kept the Yellow Jackets off balance, scattering five hits while striking out seven in his third consecutive victory. The Duke right-hander issued one walk, induced 12 fly ball outs and needed just seven pitches to retire the Yellow Jackets in order in the ninth.
The Plano, Texas native also tossed nine scoreless innings in Duke’s 6-0 win over Boston College March 31, which was Duke’s first complete game shutout since 2004. Over his past three starts, Huber has pitched 24.0 innings, allowing just 13 hits and one run in that span.
