DURHAM, N.C. – Several former Blue Devils recently concluded their overseas seasons in impressive fashion. In Spain, Monique Currie played a key role in helping Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca win the Spanish League title. In Poland, Alana Beard’s team was defeated in the Polish League Finals, as Beard was unable to play due to an injury. Jessica Foley began a new season with the Norwood Flames and has been dominant through the team’s first five games.
Beard’s team, Wisla Can-Pak, lost in the finals of the Polish League Playoffs, as CCC Polkowice defeated Wisla Can-Pak, 4-0, in the series. Beard did not play in the finals due to an injury. For the season, she appeared in just eight games in the Polish league, while averaging 11.4 points per game. In her fourth game of the Polish League season, Beard scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor. She ranked fourth on the team in scoring for the Polish league season. In the Euroleague season, Beard played in nine games and was second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 points and 31 minutes per game.
Currie and the Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca in the Spanish League captured the league title, as the team swept Rivas Ecopolis, 2-0. In the first game of the Finals, Currie had an outstanding game, scoring a game-high 27 points, grabbing seven boards and dishing three assists to lead Perfumerias to a 69-53 win. In the final game of the series, Currie totaled 11 points, six rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes of playing time. Currie concludes the season as the leading scorer for Perfumerias, averaging 13.4 points.
A few weeks after concluding play with Townsville in the Australia-WNBL, Foley is now playing with the Norwood Flames of the Australia State League. Foley has opened her season strong, averaging 17.6 points in the first five contests of the campaign. In her most recent contest, Foley totaled 22 points and 10 rebounds in 40 minutes of action against West Adelaide. She has recorded three double-doubles in the five games she has played this season and is in the top-five in many of the top statistical categories in the league.
After getting off to a strong start in her time with the Hobart Chargers in Australia, Scheer suffered a shoulder injury that has kept her out of the lineup for the past week. Prior to the injury, Scheer was averaging 17.5 points in six games played. She has scored 20 or more points in three games and has had three double-doubles on the season. Overall, she has scored in double figures in five of six games she has played.

Christmas concluded her season as the leading scorer for Maccabi Ramat Hen, shooting the ball just under 50-percent from the floor. In addition, Christmas was able to shoot at a 30-percent clip from three, while grabbing 9.7 boards per game. Christmas recorded a double-double in her last three games, including 17 points and 13 rebounds against Eletzur Ramla in her last game of the season. She scored a season high of 20 points two times this season on Nov. 19, 2012 and Feb. 11, 2013.

Thomas played a key part for Vologda Chevakata in Russia during the 2012-13 season, starting the majority of games. She finished second on the team in Russian league competition, averaging 2.3 assists per game. In the first game of the quarterfinal round of the Russian league playoffs, Thomas led Chevakata to a 91-80 win, scoring a team-high 21 points. The team won its first game of the semifinal round in the playoffs, defeating Energy Ivanovo, 77-69. Thomas scored five points in 32 minutes of playing time in the win.
Krystal Thomas Jiangsu Phoenix – China 2012-13 Stats: 22 games, 17.6 PPG, 14.1 RPG, 0.5 APG, 0.3 SPG, 0.7 BPG
Thomas completed her season in the China-WCBA league as the leading scorer for the Jiangsu Phoenix averaging 17.6 points per game and rebounding at 14.1 per game.
Chante Black Samsun – Turkey 2012-13 Stats: 15 games, 12.7 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.5 BPG
Black concluded her season averaging a double-double, with 12.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. She finished second on Samsun in scoring, while shooting a team-best 51.9-percent from the floor in 15 games. She last played for Samsun on Feb. 2 against Besiktas, where she totaled 21 points and 13 rebounds in 36 minutes of playing time.
After missing the first four games of the season, Mims is the leading scorer for Union Lyon Basket Feminin, averaging 14.7 points for the season. Mims helped Lyon into the semifinal round of the French league playoffs, before the team fell in two games to Bourges. In the first semifinal game, Mims scored 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbed four rebounds in 30 minutes of playing time.
Mosch’s season came to an end on April 6 with the end of the regular season. She closed out her season playing in 17 games for Charleville, averaging a team-best 13.9 points per game. In the final game of the regular season, Mosch came off the bench and dropped a game-high 16 points in 77-56 loss to Nantes in 35 minutes of playing time. Mosch closed her season strong by scoring in double figures in each of her last two games.
Gay closed her season strong by scoring in double figures in each of her final four games, including a pair of 15 point games. Black finished the season third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.8 points per game. Toulouse did not make the French league playoffs and closed the season with a 10-16 record.
Selby recently concluded her season in the second stage in the Czech Republic league playoffs. Selby finished second on her team in scoring for the season, averaging 14.5 points per game. Strakonice finished with an 11-15 overall record for the season.
